Report cards will be mailed out from HCHS on 1-16-25. You may always check your students grades by visiting PowerSchool..
The last day of semester 1 is Jan. 10, 2025.
Semester 2 starts on Monday Jan. 13th.

The morning of 1/13/25 all student 1st block locations will be posted around school. Students are to report to their 1st block where they will get an updated schedule.

Students must follow their schedule as it is outlined until a schedule change request is approved.
Counselors will process schedule change request as best as they can as quickly as they can.
Students who have study hall and are either a senior or a dual enrollment student must report to study hall until you turn in an updated permission to leave campus form. Updated permission to leave forms are available to pickup now from the counseling office or front office. Permission to leave campus forms are to be submitted on a semester basis for evaluation for approval to leave campus or arrive late.

Schedule Change Request Form

If you wish to request a schedule change, please fill out the schedule change form below. Please review the schedule change policy closely.

There will be NO CHANGES to schedules EXCEPT in the following circumstances:
1. Credit was already received for an assigned course. (Check schedule closely)
2. Level change from college prep to honors or honors to college prep (parent approval required, level change form must be on file if applicable)
3. A different class is needed to graduate this year.
4. All schedule changes must occur during the first 5 days of the semester. Changes after that time period require administrative authorization.
5. If a student fails to withdraw from a course prior to the 5-day schedule change drop/add period. The student will
receive a WF (withdraw fail) and a 50 will be calculated on their transcript for that course.
IMPORTANT:
** Please note that NO student will be placed in Acellus unless otherwise approved by administration.

Schedule change requests will be considered until noon on Jan. 17th.

Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment students must have an application on file each school year that they wish to take classes. Below you will find the links to complete an application. Create your account then complete the dual enrollment/high school application to start the process for taking dual enrollment courses.

Seat Time

Once a student reaches 31 days in a 180-day (yearlong) course, 21 days in a 90-day (semester)course, and 11 days in a 45-day (quarter) course the student will receive an FA on their transcript and will not be awarded credit for the course.

Basic guidelines: Seat Time Recovery (STR) is a program that allows students to recover time missed in classes due to too many absences. One hour of STR served equals one hour of class time recovered and students may earn back no more than a total of 40 hours in one year. STR hours may not be earned before the absence occurs.

Student’s recovering seat time are REQUIRED to make up the time and to complete 1 unit on Acellus in the same content area or as assigned for every two days missed. Failure to complete both requirements will result in an FA and a 50 will be place on the student’s transcript. The STR staff will have the right to dismiss a student at any time, when deemed necessary due to lack of materials, behavioral problems etc.

Erin's Law

Erin’s Law requires instruction on sexual abuse and assault awareness/prevention education in schools. South Carolina is one of nearly 40 states where the law has passed.

Specifically, the law requires that public schools implement a program that teaches:

Students (preK-12) age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and tell a trusted adult
School personnel about child sexual abuse
Parents and guardians the warning signs of child sexual abuse, plus needed assistance, referral or resource information to support sexually abused children and their families

The law is named after childhood sexual assault survivor and activist Erin Merryn.
